LIKE ALL HEALTH CARE IN AMERICA, ArchCare’s programs are costly to run – but not for patients to access. “Most of our patients are covered by Medicaid, Medicare or a combination of the two,” says ArchCare director Scott LaRue. “For many of our programs, including PACE, there is no out-of-pocket cost.”
Contributions to the ArchCare Foundation pay for ancillary programs such as the hospital chaplaincy program, the Hudson Valley mobile health clinic and the care navigation line. In keeping with the goal to keep seniors in their homes, in some cases ArchCare can even help members with housing costs. “Sometimes, when seniors lose their housing,” LaRue notes, “our foundation will pay to subsidize rent payments so that the person can remain in the community.”
